Differences are Resum and C.V and Bio-data

Differences are Resum and C.V AND BIO-DATA

In Detailed

People use the words RESUME, C.V., and BIO-DATA interchangeably for the
document highlighting skills, education, and experience that a candidate
submits when applying for a job. On the surface level, all the three
mean the same. However, there are intricate differences.

RESUME

Resume Is a French word meaning "summary", and true to the word
meaning, signifies a summary of one's employment, education, and other
skills, used in applying for a new position. A resume seldom exceeds one
side of an A4 sheet, and at the most two sides. They do not list out all
the education and qualifications, but only highlight specific skills
customized to target the job profile in question.
A resume is usually broken into bullets and written in the third person
to appear objective and formal. A good resume starts with a brief
Summary of Qualifications, followed by Areas of Strength or Industry
Expertise in keywords, followed by Professional Experience in reverse
chronological order. Focus is on the most recent experiences, and prior
experiences summarized. The content aims at providing the reader a
balance of responsibilities and accomplishments for each position. After
Work experience come Professional Affiliations, Computer Skills, and
Education

C.V CURRICULUM VITAE

C.V Is a Latin word meaning "course of life". Curriculum
Vitae (C.V.) is therefore a regular or particular course of study
pertaining to education and life. A C.V. is more detailed than a resume,
usually 2 to 3 pages, but can run even longer as per the requirement. A
C.V. generally lists out every skills, jobs, degrees, and professional
affiliations the applicant has acquired, usually in chronological order.
A C.V. displays general talent rather than specific skills for any
specific positions.

BIO-DATA

Bio Data the short form for Biographical Data, is the old-fashioned
terminology for Resume or C.V. The emphasis in a bio data is on personal
particulars like date of birth, religion, sex, race, nationality,
residence, martial status, and the like. Next comes a chronological
listing of education and experience. The things normally found in a
resume, that is specific skills for the job in question comes last, and
are seldom included. Bio-data also includes applications made in
specified formats as required by the company.

A resume is ideally suited when applying for middle and senior level
positions, where experience and specific skills rather than education is
important. A C.V., on the other hand is the preferred option for fresh
graduates, people looking for a career change, and those applying for
academic positions. The term bio-data is mostly used in India while
applying to government jobs, or when applying for research grants and
other situations where one has to submit descriptive essays.

Resumes present a summary of highlights and allow the prospective
employer to scan through the document visually or electronically, to see
if your skills match their available positions. A good resume can do
that very effectively, while a C.V. cannot. A bio-data could still
perform this role, especially if the format happens to be the one
recommended by the employer.

Personal information such as age, sex, religion and others, and hobbies
are never mentioned in a resume. Many people include such particulars in
the C.V. However, this is neither required nor considered in the US
market.. A Bio-data, on the other hand always include such personal
particulars..

In Short

Resume : For Freshers
CV :For Experienced People
Bio-Data : Is Based On Personal Details.../Generally For Non Academic Qualification

Group Discussion Common Tips

Group Discussion Common Tips

Group Discussion Common Tips

The tips given below are appicable in any GD. The only difference between most other GDs and the GDs conducted by the IIMs after CAT or other top B Schools is the intensity of the competition.

. Be as natural as possible. Do not try and be someone you are not. Be yourself.
. A group discussion is your chance to be more vocal. The evaluator wants to hear you speak.
.Take time to organize your thoughts. Think of what you are going to say.
.Seek clarification if you have any doubts regarding the subject.
.Don't start speaking until you have clearly understood and analyzed the subject.
.Work out various strategies to help you make an entry: initiate the discussion or agree with someone else's point and then move onto express your views.
.Opening the discussion is not the only way of gaining attention and recognition. If you do not give valuable insights during the discussion, all your efforts of initiating the discussion will be in vain.
.Your body language says a lot about you - your gestures and mannerisms are more likely to reflect your attitude than what you say.
.Language skills are important only to the effect as to how you get your points across clearly and fluently.
.Be assertive not dominating; try to maintain a balanced tone in your discussion and analysis.
. Don't lose your cool if anyone says anything you object to. The key is to stay objective: Don't take the discussion personally.
. Always be polite: Try to avoid using extreme phrases like: `I strongly object' or `I disagree'. Instead try phrases like: `I would like to share my views on…' or `One difference between your point and mine…' or "I beg to differ with you"
. Brush up on your leadership skills; motivate the other members of the team to speak (this surely does not mean that the only thing that you do in the GD is to say "let us hear what the young lady with the blue scarf has to say," or "Raghu, let us hear your views" - Essentially be subtle), and listen to their views. Be receptive to others' opinions and do not be abrasive or aggressive.
. If you have a group of like-minded friends, you can have a mock group discussion where you can learn from each other through giving and receiving feedback.

Apart from the above points, the panel will also judge team members for their alertness and presence of mind, problem-solving abilities, ability to work as a team without alienating certain members, and creativity.

7 Tips (SEO) Search Engine Optimization Mistakes to Avoid

MS Office - Excel Keyboard Shortcuts 2010

If you have a business website then you already know the importance of traffic. Traffic is not just anyone popping in for a visit on your site but an actual interested target group who are specifically looking for a product or service in your industry/ business. If you cannot generate targeted visitors to your website, then the chances of high sales volume is out of the question.

Usually the owner or designer of the website is the person designated to drive traffic to the site. The main ingredient in generating traffic is the search engine. There is always the option to use advertising but we all know how expensive that option can be. By using search engines to generate targeted (interested in your product) traffic is the least expensive method known.

Unfortunately, many business website owners do not understand the importance of search engine visibility, which leads to traffic. They place more importance on producing a "pretty" website. It is important to have a presentable site, but it must serve the fundamental purpose and that it bring in more sales for your business. So, what are some of the pitfalls someone can fall into?

1. Keywords – Not using them effectively

This is probably one of the most critical areas of website design. Choose the right keywords and potential customers will find your site. Use the wrong one and you will hardly see any traffic to your site. It is therefore recommended to seek the services of a professional website design company which also use search engine optimisation elements to create a Search engine friendly website.

2. Keywords – Please do not repeat them

If you are new to keywords, you would be using the same keyword in the content again and again. Some users use it in each sentence. This is a big no-no and search engines actually look past these websites as "spam". Keywords should be used in moderation and most people agree that using 2-3 keywords (2 to 3 times) on a content page is more than sufficient.

3. Do not steal content

Search engines change their algorithms all the time and one of the more recent changes is detecting duplicate content. Never steal content directly from a website; not even the images.
You can always get ideas from other sites but your content should be unique. Search engines favour content which is unique. Some sites are banned from search engine listings if found to be directly copying from other websites. If you cannot write the content for your websites, seek the help of professional writers.

4. Using keywords that are not related to your website

Some unethical website owners use keywords which are not even related to their website. A classic example is using the name of a celebrity as a keyword. Even though it is a popular keyword, it is a dead giveaway when someone lands on your site to discover what they are looking for is not available on your website. Instead, stick to keywords relevant to your site as the whole idea is to receive target traffic to your site who will convert later on to be your clients.

5. Do not hide your keywords

Yes, it is true. There are some people who stoop to a low level just to get traffic to their site. What they do is make the keywords invisible by changing the colour of the keyword font to match the background. This is clearly not a good idea as search engines are becoming really smart now. It is not worth getting your website blacklisted.

6. Search Engines have their own rules

To really stay ahead of your competition you have to realise that all search engines have their own logic and algorithms. This means that if you understand what sites they give more importance to, the higher your success rate of making your website visible to the online community.

7. Check your website regularly

Make sure to check every page in your website for completeness, like missing links, graphics, etc. The reason is that you may have some important keywords located in some pages and if information is missing or links broken, it will only drive traffic away from your website instead of retaining the visitor.

The above are real examples of what has happened to website owners who have gone off and done their own thing. Play by the rules when it comes to search engine optimisation and work with a good website design company if you are planning to build a website from scratch because the SEO elements they incorporate from the website design phase will have long-time positive results for your business website.
